Kęstutis Stasys Jakštas

Director and actor Kęstutis Stasys Jakštas studied in Naujalis Art School in Kaunas for 8 years in 1972. He entered Gruodis Music Technical College in Kaunas in 1980, studied opera singing and trumpet playing and graduated in 1985. After graduation he has been singing in Kaunas national choir managed by Bingelis for one year. Kęstutis studied singing without accompaniment in 1986. Professor Kaniava was his teacher who helped Kęstutis to achieve his goals in singing. One year later Kęstutis got interested in theatrical performances and improved himself in that field of studies organized by director Dalia Tamulevičiūtė. Algirdas Latėnas and Remigijus Vilkaitis taught Kęstutis to perform on stage. He was in a position of the intern in Juilliard School in New York in 1990. After the internship he had been performing various roles in Šiaurės Atėnų Teatras for five years. Kęstutis is an actor in State Youth Theatre of Lithuania and in Meno fortas since 1996.
From 2003 to 2005 he entered master studies of theatrical performances in Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in the faculty of theatre and cinema. Kęstutis performed many roles on stage in theatre and in cinema too.
He was awarded with a Silver Crane (“Sidabrinė gervė”) award in 2010 as the best actor in the movie Zero 2.

The musical Velnio Nuotaka was organized for the opening of Lithuanians’ World Festival Kartų vakaras in 1 June 2003. The performance Not Burning City of the Festival of the Latin Culture Fundamentum Collegi was staged in 2004. It took place in the yard of Vilnius University. Texts created by Arnas Ališauskas, music by Giedrius Puskunigis, consultant– professor was Eugenija Ulčinaitė, but the main author of ideas and stage direction was Kęstutis Jakštas. The performance named Pilot was staged in 2005 in Meno Fortas including the motifs from the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov The Master and Margarita.
The musical Christmas Factory staged in the Cathedral Square in Vilnius in 2005.
The performance of the musical Velnio Nuotaka repeated in Vilnius Siemens arena in 2006.
The musical The Wonderful World of Puss ‘n Boots staged in Utena entertainment arena in Vilnius in 2007. Libretto created by Kristina Stančienė and music created by Indrė Stakvilė.
The operetta The Violet of Montmartre by Emmerich Kálmán staged in Kaunas State Musical Theatre in 2008.
The musical Sweet Charity by Cy Coleman staged in Kaunas State Musical Theatre in 2009.
The operetta by Franz Lehar The Merry Widow staged in Lithuanian Opera in Chicago in 2010 and the other operetta by the same author The Count of Luxembourg staged in Lithuanian Opera in Chicago in 2011.
Velnio Nuotaka staged in Klaipeda State Musical Theatre in 2012.
The musical revue Siegfried Werner Cabaret (the author of the libretto is Viktorija Streiča) staged in Kaunas State Musical Theatre in 2012.
The musicals The Count of Monte Cristo and Carmen.Viva amor by Frank Wildhorn staged in Kaunas State Musical Theatre in 2014 and 2015.
The musical The Adams Family by Andrew Lippa staged in Kaunas State Musical Theatre in 2017.
