PromFest is debuting already its eighth opera production. This time, in cooperation with the Kaunas State Musical Theatre, Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “La traviata” is brought to the stage. Lead roles are sung by the winner of the last contest Alex (Sunghyun) Kim from South Korea and previous years’ laureates Anna Denisova from Russia and Ilja Silchukov from Belarus. The director is beloved Estonian actor, pedagogue and director Anu Lamp, musical director and conductor is Erki Pehk, set and costume design is by Madis Nurms.

Also participating are the soloists, choir and orchestra of the Kaunas State Musical Theatre.

Verdi based the timeless opera not on a historical but a contemporary play. Alas, the work was censored as it was considered too provocative…Today‘s „Traviata“ creative team is not afraid to be brave and provocative and bring the everlasting love story to stage in modern setting.
