The operetta The Violet of Montmartre in Kaunas State Musical Theatre was directed by Kęstutis Jakštas. He accepted the challenge to present the story in the way that audience would be interested not only in the cheerful music by Kálmán, but also in the contemporary and youthful sprees and brimming action of the plot.
This operetta is about young French artists of the modern 20th century society and their wish to be popular and recognized. Themes related to love, relationships, and affairs are also present in the story. The Violet of Montmartre is one the most romantic operettas by Kálmán.
