A new mysteriously playful and orientally colourful ballet for children “Aladdin” is being staged by music of famous Ukrainian composer Oleksandr Rodin. The ballet will be created at Kaunas State Musical Theatre by the same team of Ukrainian artists who have already realized this project at Kyiv City Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre for Children and Youth in 2021, but the war in Ukraine has stopped all performances. The libretto based on the fairy tale from the book „One Thousand and One Nights“ and its versions in movies was written by the ballet master Serhii Kon himself.
The source of inspiration for the ballet “Aladdin” was the classical collection of medieval Arabian and Persian stories „The Book of One Thousand and One Nights“, also the plots of famous films and animations based on oriental fairy tales. The plot of the oriental tale about Aladdin and the Magic Lamp has fascinated many generations because it contains important moral and ethical themes: the victory of good over evil, the superiority of purity of heart, sincerity over cunning and hypocrisy, the desire for power and profit. In the centre of the ballet – Aladdin and Genie, who live in different worlds, the charming Jasmina, evil-minded Jafar, who aspires to become the ruler of the world. The story emphasizes the value of personality: be yourself and incredible miracles will become true.
The new ballet is based on a combination of classical and modern choreography, supplemented with various styles and techniques, decorated with elements of oriental dances.
“Miracles, magic bring fun surprises and colours to everyday life. This ballet will immerse children in the intriguing world of fairy tales, while for adults it will remind them of their childhood and restore their faith that everything is possible” – says ballet master Serhii Kon.
****Spektaklyje siekiama pabrėžti asmenybės vertę: jei esi savimi – neįtikėtini stebuklai virs realybe.
